The Allianz American Legacies Study indicates that to many, it’s not about the money. The study identified that the majority of people considered non-financial leave-behinds to be ten times more important than the financial aspects of a legacy. “Many people wrongly assume the most important issue among families is money and wealth transfer, it’s not,” says Ken Dychtwald, President of Age Wave (the nation’s thought leader on the aging of America). Ken also goes on to say, “This national survey found that for the overwhelming majority, legacy transfer has to do with deeper, more emotional issues. An inheritance focuses primarily on the money, but a true legacy also includes memories, lessons and values you teach to your children over a lifetime.”
